Hollywood star Bruce Willis joined forces with rap mogul Russell Simmons on Monday, hosting an exclusive screening of the actor's new animated film for a group of New York foster children.

The showing of the big screen cartoon Rugrats Gone Wild, produced by kids' TV channel Nickelodeon, was also attended by Russell's wife, Baby Phat designer Kimora Lee-Simmons, and Joseph "Run" Simmons of Run DMC.

Rugrats features the Die Hard star as the voice of Spike The Dog in a departure from his usual action fare. The father-of-three, who got his start in the light-hearted TV series Moonlighting, says he enjoyed getting back to his roots as the animated canine.

"The goal was to be heroic in a comedic way, to be a dog in a funny way – to make comments on cats," he says. "(Producers) gave me a lot of latitude for improvisation. The Nickelodeon people did remember that I started out doing comedy."
