US film director Woody Allen is encouraging his compatriots to visit France – and to embrace French kissing and French fries – in a new tourism promotion video for the European nation.
The New York-born filmmaker, who also recently starred in adverts to boost visitors to the Big Apple, uses his unique style to address the recent tensions between America and France due to French opposition to the war in Iraq.
In the video, entitled Let's Fall In Love, he says: "I would hope that now the two countries could put all that behind them and start to build on what really has been a great, great friendship."
Woody also expresses his wish that eased relations will mean an end to the Stateside renaming of French fries as well as boycotts of French products.
"(I hope) no-one will be petty… And I will not have to refer to my French fried potatoes as freedom fries, and I will not have to freedom kiss my wife," he says, adding: "So let's all pull together now."
