Lara Croft star Angelina Jolie has been speaking about her ill-fated marriage to Billy Bob Thornton and how motherhood has transformed her life.
Appearing on a US chat show, the 28-year-old lamented the fact that her relationship with Billy Bob came to a premature end. "I thought he was amazing. And now I just feel like I don't know him," she said.
The pair were one of Hollywood's hottest couples for a time, attracting endless press attention with their very public displays of affection. They had each other's names tattooed onto their bodies and even took to wearing vials of each other's blood as pendants. When their romance came to an end, however, they found it impossible to transmute their passionate feelings into a workable friendship.
"We're not friends," said Angelina. "It's like we just changed. We became very different people and I wouldn't know what to talk to him about."
The actress, who adopted a Cambodian baby a few months before her split with Billy-Bob, says being a mother is now her top priority. "I think I'll never get married again," she declared. "I don't want a temporary father for my son."
She is also estranged from her own dad, the actor John Voight, despite the fact they worked together on the film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. "It was hello and goodbye, and that was kind of that time for us."
