A swashbuckling troop of seafaring scoundrels plundered London's Leicester Square on Monday, as The Pirates Of The Caribbean had its British premiere.

The movie, which was inspired by a ride at Disneyworld, tells a tale of romance and derring-do on the high seas. Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush play the sword-wielding rivals doing battle for the affections of a governor's daughter.

Around 3,000 fans gathered to see the actors arrive, with the biggest shout going up for the flick's British stars Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. Orlando, who you will remember as Legolas in Lord Of The Rings, looked characteristically dashing in a sharply cut black coat.

But it was Keira, who first came to our attention in the film Bend It Like Beckham, who stole the show. Clad in a black Alexander McQueen corset, complete with £500,000 of Asprey diamonds, she looked every bit the Hollywood star. "This is my first big London premiere and it's amazing," she said. "I can't believe the reception. I just want to have a good time tonight. I got all dressed up - I know people will be surprised that I wore a corset again, after all the similar outfits I wore for this film, but I just couldn't resist."

Unfortunately Johnny Depp couldn't make it along to the screening, but there was no shortage of glitzy guests, as supermodel Helena Christensen, girl band Atomic Kitten and George Best's son Calum were all in attendance.
