A heavily pregnant Reese Witherspoon brought maternal glamour to London's Leicester Square on Wednesday, when she and husband Ryan Philippe turned out for the premiere of Legally Blonde 2. The 27-year-old looked every bit the Hollywood star as she arrived at the screening, radiant in a white Prada maternity dress.
The film, which has become a box office smash in the US, follows the adventures of vacuous young lawyer Elle as she journeys to Washington to campaign for animal rights. And though her onscreen character is not exactly plagued by ideas, Reese seems to be very much the shrewd businesswoman, since she has also executive produced the flick.
"It's great for me because I'm a mother and it's a great film for young women," she said. "The character is glamorous and fun but she's also very serious about her career. The first movie dealt with stereotyping. This movie carries on that message and tells people you can't judge a book by its cover."
Reese, who was recently named Hollywood's most bankable actress, is currently staying in Britain as she is working on the movie Vanity Fair with Jim Broadbent and Gabriel Byrne. "It's great to be here," she enthused. "I have never been in the UK before, I'm just glad it didn't rain."
