Despite reports to the contrary, celebrity pair Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are still planning to wed, according to pals.
Talk that J Lo had cancelled plans for their wedding was sparked after it was reported that, days after Ben had allegedly been spotted partying hard with strippers, she stopped wearing her £700,000 engagement ring. However, a source close to the singer-actress has said the reports are "emphatically untrue", indicating that the nuptials are still on.
Meanwhile, everyone from friends to exotic dancers have been coming forward to defend the future Mr Lopez. Christian Slater's wife Ryan Haddon – the couple were among the party – said Ben was "listening to music, hanging out, talking to people, that's it". Meanwhile, a stripper at the club said the movie star was "drinking water" and didn't interact with the girls.
Ben apparently doesn't deny going to the strip club, but adamantly insists he avoided booze and illegal substances, as well as cheating on his fiancée. "The report of drugs and alcohol use are just vicious," said a rep for the actor. "We are exploring legal options."
Last week, Jennifer's sister Lynda Lopez, a New York radio chat show DJ, called Jen live on the air to tell her about the reported strip club antics, including the amount her fiancé spent at the venue. "It sounds like Ben," said J Lo. "He does tip a lot."
Meanwhile, the Gigli star is set to team up with her sibling on an upcoming talk show, with Lynda as host and the singer as executive producer. And the Lopez power pair look like they may be going head-to-head with Britney Spears, who is planning a similar producing gig for her own chat programme. Like her fellow pop star, Ms Spears would also make the occasional appearance on the show.
