Hollywood heavyweight Kevin Costner was in characteristically self-effacing form when he was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame on Monday. "It's just nice that people showed up," he said. "You know, you always get the feeling no one's going to show up for your thing."
The handsome actor, who won the best director and best picture Academy Awards for his 1990 epic Dances With Wolves, was joined by Madeleine Stowe and Robert Wagner at the unveiling ceremony.
"I was here in Hollywood when I was 18, putting my feet and my hands, measuring myself against other men and women who have done well in this business," he said.
"So, when you're there at the last, you realize your life has taken a funny circle. It's a long journey. And I just had some of my own private thoughts - It was pretty interesting to be on Hollywood Boulevard. I'm a romantic about our town."
The 48-year-old is currently promoting the filmOpen Range, in which he stars and directs. The flick follows the exploits of a group of cowboys as they move their cattle across America's western plains. And industry insiders are saying Kevin's return to the western genre may also mark his return to critical acclaim.
