TV presenter Jonathan Ross wasn't about to be outdone by the A-list cast of Kill Bill when he turned out for the UK premiere of the film. Dressed in a canary-yellow catsuit, as worn by Uma Thurman in the movie's publicity posters, the 42-year-old started a mock fight with director Quentin Tarantino just to prove his point.
Quentin didn't seem too put out, however, as he told reporters he was delighted to be in London. "The British have embraced me as their own film-maker," he said. "So to come back with a movie that rocks the house couldn't be a better feeling."
The action-packed thriller, in which a female assassin wreaks revenge on the mafia bosses who tried to bump her off, has drawn criticism for its violent content. But Quentin insists it is pure fantasy with a feminist message. "Boys will have a great time, girls will have a dose of girl power," he said. "It's the movie world, that's why it's so outlandish. This is just fun."
The film's femmes fatales, Uma Thurman and Daryl Hannah, also set flashbulbs blazing when they arrived on the red carpet. And Uma told fans she was delighted to be back in England. "I miss this place, it's been a long time," she said.
She was also taken aback by the huge crowd that turned out for the event. "I can't believe it, it's like the Academy Awards out there," she said. "Obviously Quentin has really connected to England and England to him."
Other celebs who came along to the Leicester Square screening included Michael Madsen, Miranda Richardson and artist Tracey Emin.
