Hollywood star Robert Downey Jr was accompanied by love Susan Levin to the London premiere of his latest film, The Singing Detective, as reports emerged that the two have become engaged.
The troubled actor, who was in and out of prison and substance abuse centres from the mid-Nineties until 2001, has put his problems behind him, finding love with producer Susan, whom he met on the set of the upcoming thriller Gothika. And now, with a "Susie Q" tattoo on his arm in honour of his new companion, it looks like Robert is ready to tie the knot.
"I got a ring for her birthday," he is quoted as telling chat show host Frank Skinner in an interview to be aired this Saturday. "It's an engagement ring. It's not sized right, so right now it's on her middle finger."
Robert – who was joined by a roster of British celebrities including Clive Owen and Trudie Styler at the premiere – strolled up the red carpet with his fiancée looking healthy and happy.
"Once I finally got committed (to sobriety) I discovered all sorts of hidden talents… it's like a revelation to me," the Chaplin actor said recently. "And I've also discovered I can be a considerate companion – although I still talk too much."
