Antipodean hunk Russell Crowe has been making waves in San Diego with the premiere of his new film Master And Commander. The charismatic actor, who plays Captain Jack Aubrey in the swashbuckling adventure, was accompanied by his pregnant wife Danielle Spencer to the event.
Also gracing the red carpet was British star Paul Bettany, who plays the sophisticated, but nautically-challenged, ship's surgeon. The handsome Londoner, who was escorted by Oscar-winning wife Jennifer Connelly, last worked with Russell on A Beautiful Mind.
In the movie Russ plays a Naval captain who sets out to capture a superior enemy in the Napoleonic wars. Needless to say, there's plenty of derring-do and perilous adventure as our hero does battle with his French foes.
"It's a big event movie and being out there with the Star And Rose, a replica British frigate we used in filming, gets everyone in swashbuckling mood," said Russell. And it seems the crew's marine adventures continued off-set, as he also arranged a series of trips to Sea World so they could swim with dolphins. "It's a great way to build camaraderie," revealed the 39-year-old.
