Hollywood A-lister John Travolta is no stranger to stellar environments. But the Pulp Fiction actor looks set to join the real stars, after NASA offered him the chance to pilot the Space Shuttle.

"I’ve actually been invited by NASA,” he revealed. "It's something I feel passionately about and I would clearly love to do it. If I can find time in my schedule to do the five months training which is required, I will. I might not even have to take a pay cut!"

Joining the Space Shuttle crew would be the ultimate thrill for John, who has been mad about flying since he was a child. He has clocked up over 5,000 flight hours since he earned his wings back in 1974. The 49-year-old has also qualified to pilot commercial airliners and he keeps a collection of private aircraft in hangars next to his LA mansion.

The actor may have to wait a while before taking NASA up on their offer, however, as all Space Shuttle flights have been grounded for the time being.
