Famously tight-lipped about her relationship with Coldplay front man Chris Martin, newlywed actress Gwyneth Paltrow has now opened up about her marriage and her joy over expecting the couple's first baby.
The star, who wed Chris in a top secret ten-minute ceremony with no friends of family present, told the Daily Mirror that a glamorous walk down the aisle isn't as important as maintaining a lasting relationship. "Getting married is a serious move," she says. "Of course, it's fun to have a new ring to show off and it's great to have a wedding with all your friends telling you how nice you look, but, after all, there is a marriage and you have to be prepared to make it work forever."
Gwyneth says the news that she was expecting brought forth emotions she'd never had before. "I don't think anything prepares you for the moment when you know you are pregnant," she explains. "It is the sort of thing that happens to other people and you share their joy, but when it is your own it is totally different. I keep thinking about this baby growing inside me and, while we already feel as if we have a family, we cannot really wait to meet him or her."
Touching photos of the famous couple as they emerged from a clinic looking at scan images of the baby made headline news around the world. "When I had the first scan, Chris was there and we just looked at the screen totally amazed," she says. "I have never seen anything like it… It is really exciting and our friends are probably already bored with listening to our baby talk."
And as far as parenting, Gwyneth is sure that her rock star hubby is ready for the challenge. "Chris is just as excited as I am," she says. "He's a great guy and I am sure he will be a great dad, too."
