Breaking up can be hard to do, especially if you're a major Hollywood star. Veteran actor Harrison Ford has been left with a staggering bill for his divorce from wife of 18 years, Melissa Mathison.
In what is thought to be the one of the costliest divorces in Hollywood's history, the 61-year-old has agreed to pay the screenwriter £50 million. The figure includes a single payment of £8 million, along with half of his earnings from the hit films he made while they were together.
The agreement overtakes Tom Cruise's £46-million divorce from Nicole Kidman as Tinseltown's biggest to date. Bruce Willis gave Demi Moore £38 million when they went their separate ways, while Michael Douglas paid £37.5 million to ex-wife Diandra.
Harrison, who is currently living with Ally McBeal star Calista Flockhart, has also promised to pay £200,000 a year in child maintenance for each of their two children, Malcolm and Georgia.
The Indiana Jones star is said to be anxious to maintain his romance with Calista. Their relationship was reported to be under strain after pictures were published of Harrison partying in a bar in Mexico.
