When Canadian actress Elisa Cuthbert landed a central role in the hit series 24, she soon found herself with a bit of a problem. The pretty 21-year-old was beset with calls from friends and loved-ones who wanted to meet the show's star Kiefer Sutherland.

But it now seems Kiefer has found a way to keep everybody happy, by recording a voice message on Elisa's answerphone. And the actress' friends have been surprised to hear their hero, who plays secret agent Jack Bauer in the programme taking their calls.

The hunky actor may have inadvertently set off a craze, because all his co-workers now want him to say a few words on their message-minders, too. "Everyone wants Kiefer to be the voice on their machine, saying: 'Hello, this is Jack Bauer'," reveals Lisa. "It's really cool him saying: 'We're dealing with a virus here now, so if it's that important I dare you to leave a message'."

It can only be hoped that recording all those messages won't distract him too much from the pressing business of saving the world.
