John Travolta has been spreading his wings Down Under, helping Qantas Airlines celebrate its 50th anniversary. The actor, who is well-known for his skills as a pilot, is making a series of appearances in his capacity as the company's "ambassador at large".
The Grease star is accompanied by his wife Kelly and children Jet and Ella on his month-long stay in Melbourne. His first engagement was to help the firm launch its new low-fares subsidiary, Jetstar, before heading off for a few hours in the Qantas 747 flight simulator.
John made the journey to Australia in his own Boeing 707, which he bought from the airline five years ago. "I was in a plane that I felt very good about," he said. "It has four engines and it was built 40 years ago to fly the Pacific, and I keep it in perfect condition."
The 50-year-old will also be touching down in the outback town of Longreach, where he will pay a visit to the Qantas Founders' Outback Museum on Thursday.
