Two of the movie industry's hottest stars spun a web on Hollywood on Tuesday, when Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst arrived for the premiere of Spider-Man 2.Willem Dafoe, who plays the villainous Green Goblin, also attended the glitzy Los Angeles screening.

In the flick Tobey reprises his role as mild-mannered student Peter Parker, who leads a double life as a crime-fighting super-hero. The new movie sees him going head-to-head with the diabolical Dr Ock, who is played by renowned British character actor Alfred Molina. And fans of the web-slinging character can expect to see him facing some romantic challenges too, because love-interest Mary Jane has decided it's time for a change.

"I just wanted her to have grown up a lot and really make the decisions in Peter's and her relationship," explained Kirsten. "In the last movie he kind of decides for them that they can only be friends, but in this movie she makes the decision for them, so she's a much more confident woman."

Across the pond in Britain, meanwhile, singer Charlotte Church has decided against trying to upstage the actress at the UK premiere on July 12. The opera star had agreed to wear a £5-million jewel-encrusted gown to the opening night, but it seems she's had a change of heart.

"I was going to do it, but I'm not anymore," she said. "I wouldn't want to take attention away from the film's stars – they should dress Kirsten Dunst in it."
