Angelina Jolie has shown her wild side by getting a 30-centimetre tattoo of a tiger emblazoned across her back. The Oscar-winning actress flew to Bangkok for a rendezvous with master tattoo artist Sampong Kanphai, who added the new design to her growing collection of body art.

The maestro spent two hours with the Lara Croft star, carefully inking the elaborate design into her skin. Once it had been completed he chanted an ancient hymn which, he said, would bring wealth and power to its bearer. And Sampong's Tinseltown client seems to have great faith his abilities. The 29-year-old told journalists her life had been filled with joy and happiness since she first received a tattoo from him.

Angelina's visit to Bangkok came just a few days after Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen offered to make her a citizen. He afforded her the honour in recognition of her humanitarian work and the fact that she adopted an orphan from the country.

"He did mention giving me Cambodian citizenship, and I would be honoured," she said after meeting the politician. "I would certainly be thrilled, so I'm sure I'll be moving forward to actually receiving that."

The actress is currently travelling in Southeast Asia with her two-year-old son. "I want to bring Maddox back to Cambodia as often as possible, because I want him to know he's Cambodian and be proud of that," she affirmed.
