Aussie hunk Eric Bana has presumably sent odds soaring the world over after describing rumours he is to play the next James Bond as "crazy". He had previously been a firm favourite with bookies for the role, having nudged fellow potential 007 Clive Owen into second place.

Amid reports that he was in negotiations with the film's producers to step into Pierce Brosnan's shoes, the actor, who also sizzled onscreen in Black Hawk Down and more recently Troy, seems confused over the speculation, while emphatically denying he is in the running for the role. "I haven't got a bloody clue where all this started," he reveals. "I've said like a million times I wouldn't do it. It's never, ever, ever been something we've had a discussion about."

The Hulk actor is just one of a string of top names to be linked to the iconic character. Jude Law, Ioan Gruffudd, Orlando Bloom and Colin Farrell are also among those considered as having what it takes to don the British secret agent's tux.
