Two of the most beautiful women in cinema – lovely Latinas Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz – are joining forces for the first time, playing a pair of feisty bank robbers in French producer Luc Besson's latest film.
Production of Bandidas is set to begin in a few weeks in Mexico, and residents of Real de Catorce, where the comedy Western will be shot, are said to be thrilled with the pending arrival of the sexy señoritas. The locals, however, are already accustomed to the glamour of Hollywood, as another pair of superstars – Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt – filmed 2001's The Mexican in the area.
While Mexico-born Salma, 38, finds herself on familiar turf, Penelope, a native of Spain, is a bit further from home. However, both actresses will surely enjoy their time together as they have plenty in common, including a longtime off-screen friendship which ranges from joint charity work to girls' days out shopping.
Something else the pair seem to share is an impressive line-up of handsome co-stars. Leading men in Salma's upcoming films, Ask The Dust and After The Sunset, are Colin Farrell and Pierce Brosnan respectively, while 30-year-old Penelope will be sharing screen time with Matthew McConaughey in Sahara as well as siblings Joseph and Ralph Fiennes in Chromophobia.
