Sharon Stone was on exuberant form when she was honoured for her charity work on Saturday. The blonde bombshell, looking radiant in a black trouser suit and pink furry stole, clapped and cheered enthusiastically as the annual Angel Awards got underway in Los Angeles.
The yearly prizegiving recognises those who have done most to help Project Angel in its mission to feed poor people suffering from serious illnesses. And since she first started working with the organisation back in 1995, Sharon has become one of its most important benefactors.
But the self-effacing star is not one to accept a compliment without poking fun at herself. She even leapt to her feet for some good-natured heckling when tributes were being paid. And her self-deprecation only became more intense when journalists asked her about her forthcoming role in Basic Instinct 2.
"It's been dogged by delays – doesn't anyone want to see me naked?" she joked. "Nobody wants me – I don't get much work because I'm an old bag."
Despite her insistence that she is past her best, the stunning 46-year-old is still a huge draw at the box office. Having taken cinemas by storm with her villainous turn in Catwoman, the performer has now signed up to star opposite Bill Murray and Jessica Lange in Jim Jarmusch's latest picture.
