London's Leicester Square played host to some of the hottest talents from both Britain and the US on Saturday night, when Rupert Everett, Billy Crudup and Claire Danes joined forces to promote their latest film.
The three performers were joined by Devon-born director Richard Eyre at the glitzy screening of Stage Beauty. In the movie Billy plays the cross-dressing, 17-century actor Ned Kynaston. And despite the fact that his flawless English accent has been roundly applauded by the critics, the New York native was remaining modest.
"I did the job asked of me but I had to realise I would probably never play this role the way I would want it played because I don't really have the talent for it," he said. Those who came along to see the quirky comedy were left with no such doubts about the 36-year-old's performance, however.
Claire Danes, who was looking typically radiant in a simple white gown, plays Ned's dresser Maria. The inimitable Rupert Everett meanwhile takes on the role of King Charles, who causes a few problems for our hero by allowing women to play themselves in the theatre.
