Catherine Zeta-Jones won an Oscar for her turn as a ruthless femme fatale in the hit musical Chicago, but the actress' latest triumph owed more to self-deprecation and old-fashioned team spirit.
The glamorous performer, who was on effervescent form at a celebrity tournament in Wales, couldn't help but see the funny side of things, as she seemed to have left her sporting skills back in the Bahamas.
She playfully bowed to the crowd of well-wishers after another of her putts narrowly missed its target. And when one fan called out, "You're beautiful", the star shouted back, "But my golf is ugly!" with a wry smile.
The 35-year-old even confessed that her caddie thought she was a novice. "It was horrific. He said, 'Is this the first time you've played?'," she revealed. "I cried on the seventh hole, I went, 'Oh my God, I've been playing for seven years."
One of the snappers who was busy recording the fun got quite a surprise when his subject decided it might be better to abandon her clubs altogether and try her hand at photography. The lensman was only too pleased to take a breather as his A-list assistant took some pictures on his behalf.
Even though she wasn't exactly the European team's star player, she and her friends still managed to beat the US side. And the Welsh actress has also managed to head off an American challenge for her latest movie role. Catherine has been lined up to play screen icon Lana Turner in a new biopic, despite the fact Sharon Stone says she should have been given first choice.
"I met Lana in her final years and liked her a great deal," explained Basic Instinct's Sharon. "We got along really well. She said if there was a film to be made on her life, then I was her choice."
