Catherine Zeta-Jones and Antonio Banderas were both sporting big smiles when they met up in Berlin at the weekend to promote their latest film. They weren't always in such good spirits while working on The Legend Of Zorro, though, as there were quite a few mishaps on the set. Not long ago the Welsh actress revealed she would find a new set of bruises every evening when she returned home from work. And Antonio says that at 45 he's simply too old to be leaping off buildings and falling from horses. "My bones were cracking every morning," confessed the actor.
Both he and his costar are clearly delighted with their latest collaboration, however. In the film the Spanish actor's character promises feisty leading lady Elena that his swashbuckling days are behind him. Needless to say, keeping his word proves a little more difficult than expected.
"Zorro is going to find problems in his own house," explained Antonio. "That's what I like about these movies – the times when Zorro is human, when he's failing in front of people. That's when I have the most fun. When the mask goes on, well – it's been done before."
The hunky actor's only gripe is that they waited seven years to make the sequel, as filming his stunt scenes wasn't so easy this time around. "Truthfully, after the first one I thought that was it," he revealed. "No one talked about doing a sequel, but the movie did well and I knew sooner or later the studio would come back to the idea. I just hope they don't wait another seven years if they want another one – I'd hate to hear what my bones would sound like then!"
