Tom Cruise riding high in Germany

Tinseltown heavyweight Tom Cruise had movie fans on the edge of their seats when he went tearing around the countryside on a powerful motorcycle for the movie Mission: Impossible II. So producers of the German talk show Wetten Dass were no doubt relieved the silver screen heart-throb opted for a rather more gentle pace when he rolled onto the set of their popular series at the weekend.

The 43-year-old, whose fiancée Katie Holmes is due to give birth any day now, made his dramatic entrance on a classic Triumph. It's not the first time he has turned easy rider for the cameras, as he was in the saddle of an enormous Honda when he arrived for the premiere of his blockbuster War Of The Worlds in Los Angeles last year.

Tom caught the motorbike bug back in 1985 when he famously played a fighter pilot in Top Gun. And he once again indulges his passion for two-wheeled adventure in the latest instalment of the Mission: Impossible series. The hotly-anticipated flick sees him hurtling around the streets of Beijing and Shanghai on a motorcycle loaded with guns.

But despite his penchant for high-octane fun, the diminutive star doesn't stand for any messing around when he's on the job. "Tom runs a very tight ship," revealed Irish star Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who's also appearing in the new movie. "You do not turn up late and you don't muck around - he's strict with himself and everyone he works with."
