Sienna finds new role as a police siren

The men and women who make up the ranks of the New York Police Department aren't easily distracted from their duty, but two officers patrolling the streets of the Big Apple this week couldn't resist taking time out from their law-enforcement activities when they found themselves face-to-face with British screen siren Sienna Miller.

Both men were clearly delighted at the opportunity to rub shoulders with the pretty actress. And the Casanova star seemed equally pleased to make the acquaintance of New York's finest, happily posing for pictures with the two burly crime-fighters during a break in filming.

Sienna is in Manhattan to shoot a new drama with Reservoir Dogs actor Steve Buscemi. In Interview the 24-year-old plays America's most popular soap star, while the flick's leading man is a world-weary journalist whose job it is to spend an afternoon with her. Jude Law's ex, who recently had her trademark blonde tresses shaped into a short crop, is long haired again after investing in some new hair extensions before filming got underway.

Playing the part of a screen star may prove prophetic for the young performer, as she seems well on her way to conquering the movie industry. And her reputation as a style icon is also going from strength to strength after she was asked to co-host the May 4 opening of the Anglomania Fashion Exhibition, in New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, with Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
