Brad Pitt appears to be relishing the role of father to his and Angelina Jolie's adopted children - and this week the Hollywood hotshot is said to have taken his devotion a step further by having a Buddhist prayer tattooed on his lower back in honour of four-year-old Maddox.

The body art, a prayer of protection for the little boy, matches five black columns that Brad's raven-haired love has, etched on her shoulders. The design on the hunk's back is a Sanskrit blessing.

Meanwhile some good news will have trickled through to Angelina, who is currently in Namibia awaiting the birth of her and Brad's child.

Her estranged father Jon Voight has paid tribute to the actress for using her fame to champion good causes. "What do movie stars do with all that success, money, white-hot spotlight and fame?" he asks in an interview with the New York Post.

The Midnight Cowboy star goes to answer his own question by hailing his daughter for bringing perspective to the "unnatural state" of life in the limelight through humanitarian work. "Angie has found a way. She's investing her celebrity to help others."

The pair fell out some years ago when Jon suggested Angelina needed help for emotional difficulties. Recently, however, the 67-year-old actor has made overtures to his daughter through the media in the hope of a reconciliation.
