Still exhilarated after the birth of his daughter Suri, Tom Cruise seemed to be on a mission to shake the hand of every single fan in Leicester Square on Tuesday. At the London premiere of his latest flick the new dad spent more than three hours working the crowd in a marathon walkabout.

As well as accepting an assortment of balloons, cards and flowers for his one-week old daughter at the Mission: Impossible III screening, the megastar showed off other members of his family.

Tom's older children from his union with Nicole Kidman, 13-year-old Isabella and Conor, 11, were making their red carpet debut. Both father and son arrived sporting near identical suits and sunglasses.

After lining up for a photocall with co-stars Michelle Monaghan and Jonathan Rhys Meyers, the 43-year-old heart-throb chatted to well-wishers, talking on their mobile phones and signing autographs. He thrilled one woman there to celebrate her 80th birthday by kissing her on the cheek.

Conversation inevitably centred around the new arrival. Asked if he was missing her, the actor replied: "How can you not? She's beautiful."

Tom also said he'd spoken to his fiancée Katie Holmes "about a billion times" in recent days. The Last Samurai star had originally intended to stay home and help with nappy duty, but changed his mind after the new mum apparently told him: "Go and have fun!".
