To the rest of the world Uma Thurman has been by turns a gangster's moll and a deadly assassin, captivating audiences with every performance because of her knockout looks. But to two young children growing up in New York, the screen beauty is merely their devoted mum.
On Monday, the 33-year-old actress was spending quality time with her son, four-year-old Roan. There was no sign of his big sister Maya, who's seven, but the little blond-haired boy was clearly enjoying his day out. He sat back and chatted earnestly to a pal on a scooter, while the Kill Bill star got down to the hard work of pushing him along in a buggy, laden with shopping.
And with her love life on uncertain territory - she split from handsome hotelier Andre Balazs in March, but was spotted holidaying with him on St Barts shortly after - Uma will be taking comfort in her maternal role.
In the past the Be Cool star has made it clear, that whatever twists and turns her private life may take, Roan and Maya are her number one priority. "Family is the one safe harbour one will ever have," she's commented. "So getting to be a mother is getting to create your own universe for a while."
