It's unlikely Jason Statham is the kind of man who has ever found himself short of female company. And on a visit to Japan Kelly Brook's hunky ex got plenty of attention from the fairer sex at a press conference to promote his flick Transporter 2.
Looking smoother than a Sean Connery-era 007, the sharply suited actor posed with a posse of leather-clad beauties toting replica pistols. Asked if his character, an ex-Special Forces operative, is a Bond for the modern age, Jason concedes there are some parallels with the famous spy.
"You could say he's a working-class James Bond," admits the heart-throb. "A Bond who drinks Heineken and not Dom Perignon champagne. He's a bit less refined, but still very capable."
The 33-year-old former Olympic diver, who divides his time between Los Angeles and London, has a stack of movies set to hit the screens. As well as an appearance in The Pink Panther, he's set to reprise his role as Handsome Rob for the sequel to The Italian Job opposite Charlize Theron and Mark Wahlberg.
