The most widely awaited baby on the planet made her debut this weekend, when mother-of-two Angelina Jolie gave birth to her first biological child in Africa.
"The night of May 27, 2006, in Namibia, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt welcomed their daughter Shiloh Nouvel," said a statement from Brad's publicist. "No further information is being given."
It was not known if the baby had been born at the resort near the village of Langstrand, where the couple had been staying amid strict security, or in one of the private hospitals slightly further afield.
Brad, 42, and Angelina, 30, hit the headlines when they moved their household to Namibia in early April. Until then, the A-list pair had been living in an upmarket suburb of Paris, giving rise to expectations Angelina would fulfil her French mother Marcheline Bertrand's wishes by welcoming the infant in her European homeland.
Oscar winner Angelina also has a well-established relationship with Africa, though. She first fell in love with Namibia while filming the drama Beyond Borders there in 2003 and she has since made numerous visits to other African nations in her role as a United Nations goodwill ambassador.
The photogenic performer also adopted her second child, Zahara - now just over a year old - from Ethiopia in 2005. Brad has adopted both Zahara and Angelina's Cambodian-born son, four-year-old Maddox. The arrival of little Shiloh Nouvel makes the perfect early birthday present for the actress, who turns 31 next Sunday.
