Hot-lipped stars shower kisses on Cannes

Maybe it was the warm sea breeze, or perhaps the atmosphere of celebration was to blame, but there was definitely something in the air at this year's Cannes Film Festival. All around the picturesque French town A-list stars were delighting their fans by puckering up and blowing kisses to all and sundry.

Spanish bombshell Penelope Cruz had extra reason to purse her lips after she was named winner of the best actress award. The glamorous 32-year-old, who was honoured for her performance in Pedro Almodovar's latest flick Volver, shared the prize with her female co-stars in the much talked-about movie.

She wasn't the only Latin stunner setting hearts aflutter, though, as Italy's Monica Bellucci was also spotted snuggling up to her leading man Vincent Cassel. Tinseltown siren Sharon Stone likewise got in on the act, when she arrived on the red carpet for the premiere of Marie Antoinette, while former supermodel Claudia Schiffer was snapped blowing kisses to the crowd at a screening of El Laberinto del Fauno.

Even Hollywood hardman Bruce Willis couldn't resist the temptation to show a little love, as he sent a few smackers sailing through the air when he turned out for the debut of his cartoon adventure Over The Hedge. Among the other silver screen hunks showing their softer side was Robert Downey Jr, who was feeling distinctly smoochy at the premiere of A Scanner Darkly.

It was British director Ken Loach who received the biggest show of affection, however. The renowned filmmaker was clearly over the moon after his latest effort, The Wind That Shakes The Barley, was honoured with the event's most prestigious award, the Palme d'Or.
