Two of the silver screen's most celebrated figures met up with some of its hottest young stars at a glitzy bash in New York this week. Iconic performer Liza Minnelli and relative newcomer Naomi Watts were both among the VIP guests who turned out to join movie veteran Mia Farrow for the premiere of her new flick The Omen on Wednesday night.
In the movie, which is a remake of the 1976 horror classic, Mia plays the evil nanny who is tasked with looking after little Damien. But despite the devilish story, the actress says working on the movie was a charmed experience for everyone involved.
The 61-year-old was appearing on Broadway with Julia Stiles when director John Moore offered her the role. Agreeing to take on the part gave her the opportunity to team up with Scream's Liev Schreiber and spend a few months filming in the Czech Republic.
"I was already working with Julia and I loved her," enthused the actress. "I wanted to work with Liev because in our profession, he's considered to be the new Laurence Olivier, and I also wanted to work with John because I thought he has tremendous style as a director. And I thought, I get to be in Prague, which is my favourite city, so it was great!"
Mia was keen to heap praise on child actor Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick, who plays the young antichrist, too. "We came over to Prague on the same plane," recalled the blonde performer. "By the time we got there, we were friends. He's a really outgoing kid, very outspoken and a good kid, with good parents and he's loads of fun."
