Matt Damon and Jack Black are celebrating becoming fathers for the first time after their wives gave birth over the weekend.

A publicist for the Saving Private Ryan star and his Argentine wife, announced: "Mother and baby – everyone – is wonderful, fine." Luciana, who already has a seven-year-old daughter, Alexa, from a previous marriage, gave birth to a little girl named Isabella on Sunday in a Miami hospital. Matt, 35, married Luciana in December in a private ceremony in New York.

The School Of Rock actor revealed his happy news at the Hollywood premiere of his new movie Nacho Libre on Monday night and couldn't help jumping for joy. He and his wife Tanya Haden, a talented cellist, welcomed a baby boy on Saturday, and although they haven't filled in the name on the birth certificate, the 37-year-old funnyman has revealed that Samuel is the frontrunner.

It's been a whirlwind few months for Jack who exchanged vows with Tanya in March. The pair were high school pals but only found love when they met at a friend's party last year. "I had a crush on her," said the smitten star in an interview with GQ in January. "We weren't, like, close buddies. She was too pretty and I was scared to talk to her."

Meanwhile proud papa Tom Cruise has sent new dad Brad Pitt a cheeky card saying: "Congratulations! You're following in my footsteps!" He also sent two-week-old Shiloh a cute teddy bear. A source told the Daily Mirror: "Tom and Brad have had a friendly rivalry since acting together in Interview With A Vampire. The card was taken in good spirits."
