Kate Beckinsale and her ex-partner Michael Sheen enjoyed some family fun as they took daughter Lily out in New York this week. Despite parting from the Welsh actor after finding love with director Len Wiseman on the set of Underworld in 2003, the actress is happy to show that she and her former flame are still the best of friends.

The proud parents were treating their seven-year-old girl to an afternoon in Central Park, where they hopped a ride in a horse and carriage. And it wasn't just mum and dad providing the entertainment. Little Lily made them both smile as she made a cheeky gesture to photographers.

Dressed in trendy green cap and patterned gypsy skirt, the youngster is clearly taking after her stylish mum, who was wearing this season's must-have leggings. In a recent interview, however, the Pearl Harbour star has indicated her daughter might not always be keen on her mum's sartorial style.

The actress apparently ruled out a part in the new Wonder Woman movie for fear of what her daughter might say. Despite having dressed up as the comic-book heroine to take Lily trick or treating at Halloween, she reveals: "I've embarrassed my daughter enough. I don't think appearing in my underpants is appropriate."

The 33-year-old Brit married Len in May 2004, but has remained close to Lily's father. Relations are so good between them that they reunited for Underworld: Evolution, a sequel to the first hit movie.

Kate is currently starring opposite Adam Sandler in Click, which opens in the US this week and is due to hit UK cinemas in September.
