When Tom Cruise fell head over heels in love with Katie Holmes he couldn't wait to tell everyone about his joyous feelings. And he was equally forthcoming about his excitement over Katie's pregnancy. Becoming a father for the third time has obviously had quite an affect on the Mission: Impossible star, though, as he and his family have been keeping a very low profile ever since little Suri was born on April 18.
In the period running up to the birth her father made headlines with his unexpected displays of emotion, leading many members of the press pack to think they would soon be getting to know the infant quite well as her proud dad showed her off. But it would seem the devoted parents prefer to keep this special time private, as they have scarcely been seen in public in the three months since her arrival.
According to press reports stateside, even the couple's close friends are yet to meet the much-talked-about tot. The New York Post says family friends Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith paid a visit to their home, but didn't get a peek at the baby, while John Travolta and Kelly Preston, who also know the couple well, are likewise waiting for an introduction.
The family's decision to withdraw from public life is in stark contrast to some of the other celebs who have welcomed babies recently. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt proudly presented their bundle of joy in HELLO!, while Brooke Shields and Gwen Stefani have both been photographed out and about with their new arrivals.
The only person who has met little Suri, however, is a sales assistant from a health food store in Colorado, who came face to face with the infant when Katie stopped by to pick up some nutritious snacks. Representatives for the A-list pair say Tom, Katie and their little girl are all doing fine, though, and they plan to step back onto the public stage when the time is right.
