Former X-Files star Gillian Anderson has put the difficulties of recent months behind her with the news that she is to become a mother for the second time with her new partner Mark Griffiths. In April the 37-year-old actress separated from her husband, documentary filmmaker Julian Ozanne, after 16 months of marriage.
"She is happy to announce that she is expecting her second child, due at the end of the year with businessman Mark Griffiths," her manager Connie Freiberg told a US magazine.
Gillian - who lives in London with 11-year-old Piper, her daughter from a three-year union with art director Clyde Klotz - is a familiar face on British TV after her Emmy-nominated role in the BBC adaptation of Charles Dickens' Bleak House.
Photographs of the parents-to-be on a recent outing showed them looking relaxed and happy. A baby bump was just visible under the actress' loose-fitting floral smock as she shopped with her tall, dark-haired beau. Mark has previously been linked with ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell.
