While many Tinseltown players are sunning themselves in exotic locations, some stars are still hard at work. Toni Collette put in a dazzling appearance at the New York premiere of her movie Little Miss Sunshine on Tuesday.

The indie flick, which also stars Greg Kinnear, follows an eccentric family on a road trip to get their young daughter into the finals of a beauty pageant. Despite the quirky storyline the Australian actress had obviously decided some old-fashioned Hollywood glamour wouldn't go amiss.

Looking a world away from the frumpy parts she's played in movies like Muriel's Wedding and In Her Shoes, 33-year-old Toni showed off a golden tan and trim figure in a stunning backless dress.

Meanwhile over in Los Angeles a snappily dressed Jesse Metcalfe - Eva Longoria's multi-tasking gardener on Desperate Housewives - was stepping out to the screening of John Tucker Must Die. He plays the movie's eponymous serial cheater, who gets his comeuppance at the hands of his ex-girlfriends.

For someone recently hunted by vengeful females Jesse looked remarkably cheerful. Perhaps the reason for the hunk's good humour was the presence of his gorgeous co-star Arielle Kebbel and former Wisteria Lane colleague Eva, who sizzled in a plunge-necked hot pink blouse teamed with white jeans.
