Former "brat pack" actor Emilio Estevez has confirmed he's planning to tie the knot. The 44-year-old star, who is currently the toast of Tinseltown thanks to his new political biopic Bobby, has popped the question to his girlfriend of two years Sonja Magdevski.
The couple were in the appropriately romantic setting of Venice when news of their engagement broke. Emilio, who was in town to promote his flick at the city's annual film festival, told reporters that he and his journalist love had not yet decided on a date for their big day.
Sonja has a small part in the movie, which was directed by her new fiancé. "My sister was supposed to do it but she had a conflict with The West Wing," revealed the actor. "So I said to Sonja, 'Get in wardrobe, get in make-up!'."
The film, which tells the story of Robert Kennedy's assassination, sees her sharing the screen with major stars like Sharon Stone, Laurence Fishburne and Sir Anthony Hopkins. Her husband-to-be's former fiancée Demi Moore also puts in an appearance, along with headline-friendly newcomer Lindsay Lohan, but the film's director looks set to be the star of the piece. Industry insiders are tipping the Young Guns actor to pick up an Oscar for his work behind the camera.
