The hottest acting talents from both Britain and America have been descending on the Canadian city of Toronto as its international film festival gets underway. Sean Penn, Jude Law and Kate Winslet took to the red carpet together on Sunday night when their political drama All The King's Men was screened, while Brad Pitt was likewise in attendance for the premiere of his new drama Babel.
Jude and Kate have both been roundly applauded for their appearances in the former movie, but critics have pointed to Sean, who plays Louisiana governer Willie Stark, as the likely Oscar contender. The renowned actor, who is well-known for his outspoken political views, used the event to talk about the corrupting effects of power.
When Brad Pitt turned out to promote his latest offering, however, he seemed rather more interested in discussing his new baby girl. The 42-year-old confessed that, having become a father to little Shiloh, he would be rather more careful about future movie choices. "That's exactly my thoughts these days," said the actor. "'What are they going to see from films from the past?' It definitely colours what I'll approach in the future. I'll try to be a little bit more mature about my decisions."
Asked whether he might tie the knot with the infant's mother Angelina Jolie, he said they'd take a trip down the aisle as soon as gay marriage was legalised in the US. "We'll do it when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able," he affirmed.
