In the new romantic comedy Click Adam Sandler plays an overworked architect who discovers a magic remote control giving him the power to put his life on pause. His co-star Kate Beckinsale showed no desire to place the American funnyman on hold when they met up for the movie's UK premiere, though.
"He is truly one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life," declared the pretty actress as she embraced the comic in Leicester Square. And the 33-year-old performer, who was stunning in a strapless scarlet gown with long train, received an equally warm welcome from the huge throng of fans who had gathered outside the Empire Cinema.
Adam confessed to feeling a little taken aback by the deafening roar of approval that greeted him when he arrived on the specially prepared blue carpet. "I can't believe it's this huge," he said, before joking: "Everyone has been nice - not one person has cursed at me yet."
Former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff, who plays his nasty boss in the flick, was also in attendance. And having recently finalised his divorce, the 6ft 4in hunk confessed he was finding it a little tricky to get back into the singles market. "I don’t know how to date anymore," he admitted. "But I know, God willing, that He will bring me someone."
While some of America's favourite actors were enjoying the adulation of British movie fans, one of the UK's top talents was likewise receiving a warm welcome across the pond in the US. Pirates Of The Caribbean heart-throb Orlando Bloom spent the evening rubbing shoulders with the likes of Angelica Huston and his onscreen nemesis Geoffrey Rush when he attended an exclusive after-party for Sofia Coppola's new big-budget production Marie Antoinette.
