With both Nicole Kidman and Monica Bellucci setting the red carpet ablaze at the weekend, Rome's fashionistas would have their work cut out if they had to decided who was the most glamorous visitor to their annual film festival. Residents of the Italian capital were understandably excited over the weekend as the biggest names in movies descended on their hometown to help the cinematic extravaganza get underway.
The Australian actress looked stunning in a sequinned silver sheath when she rolled up to the premiere of her flick Fur. And the 39-year-old, who plays renowned photographer Diane Arbus in the movie, was waxing lyrical about her life with new husband Keith Urban.
"There is an inherent understanding between people who are artistically drawn to each other," she said. "At the same time, you don't choose who you fall in love with." Asked how she felt about setting up home with the country singer in Tennessee, she was equally enthusiastic. "It's a wonderful place for me to live - I feel very protected there," she revealed. "I like to be somewhere that isn't a big city and I am very drawn to the rural aspect of it - I love to ride horses and stuff."
Monica likewise lived up to her reputation for high octane glam when she made her entrance at the screening of N: Napoleon And Me. The sultry performer, who sent pulses racing in sexy strapless red, went along to present the quirky drama, which follows the iconic general's life in exile on the island of Elba.
The historical piece is just one of sixteen movies in competition at the event. Among the other big names who have been turning heads in the picturesque city were Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio, who jetted in to promote The Departed, and Richard Gere, who was accompanied by wife Carey Lowell to the premiere of The Hoax.
