"I used to come down here and look at these stars and I could never quite figure out what you were supposed to do to get one," said Bruce Willis on Monday. The Die Hard actor has clearly played his cards right, though, as he is now the proud owner of one of the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame honours.
The event on Hollywood Boulevard outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre turned into a family occasion for the Hollywood hard man, who was looking particularly trim and elegant in a smart suit. He was joined by his four-year-old niece Sofia and two-year-old nephew Trajan, his mum, as well his three daughters, ex-wife Demi Moore and her husband Ashton Kutcher.
And fans who had gathered for a glimpse of the 51-year-old pin-up were in for an extra treat as a roll-call of other movie stars turned out for the big occasion including Billy Bob Thornton, Don Johnson, Ben Affleck and action man Sly Stallone.
Bruce, whose star was the 2,321st to be added to the Walk Of Fame, continues to get a buzz out of his career. "Time has passed and now here I am doing this, and I'm still excited. I'm still excited to be an actor," he said.
Born in 1955 on an American military base in Germany, Bruce grew up in New Jersey, working in a factory and as a bar man and bodyguard before hitting the big time. He made his acting debut in the 1980s TV show Moonlighting and went on to appear in major blockbusters including Pulp Fiction and The Sixth Sense. But he is probably best known for his portrayal of Detective John McClane in the Die Hard movies.
