Love was definitely in the air when a series of major stars turned out for a glitzy awards gala in Tinseltown this week. Some of the movie industry's hottest couples were cuddling up on the red carpet as this year's Hollywood Film Festival reached its climax on Monday night.

Demi Moore and her leading man Ashton Kutcher looked loved up as ever as they gazed into each other's eyes, while Emilio Estevez was clearly equally as enamoured with fiancée Sonja Magdevski.

Sharon Stone and Christian Slater may not be an item, but the A-list pair seemed to be getting on like a house on fire nonetheless. And Alias star Jennifer Garner was also on hand to see her hunky beau Ben Affleck pick up the best supporting actor prize.

Among the other big winners on the night were Forest Whitaker, who named best actor for his role in The Last King Of Scotland, and Robin Williams, who took home the lifetime achievement award.

Spanish bombshell Penelope Cruz, striking in a velvet tux, likewise had reason to smile, as she received a trophy in recognition of her performance in Volver.

Tinseltown insiders say the Hollywood Film Festival is particularly popular with the industry's big names as the absence of television cameras makes it possible for them let their hair down and enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere than is possible at other ceremonies. And there was no shortage of star power in the audience, with Robert De Niro, Clint Eastwood, Sandra Bullock, Lindsay Lohan and Nicolas Cage all in attendance.
