She may have said, "I don't want to be somebody else anymore" to explain her switch from acting to writing children's books, but Jamie Lee Curtis isn't averse to taking on a new persona offscreen. The A Fish Called Wanda actress showed she's still happy to don a costume when the occasion calls for it as she stepped out to a Halloween fundraiser in California on Saturday.

The 47-year-old actress, who made her name in Halloween horror flicks, was hosting the annual charity bash in Santa Monica in aid of children affected by Aids. In previous years she's showed up as a police officer and as Nurse Barbie, and this year she once again pulled out all the stops with a jaunty pirate ensemble.

Dressed in buckled leather boots, feathered pirate hat and nautical striped dress accessorised with a hook, parrot and sword, fun Jamie gave Pirates Of The Caribbean star Johnny Depp a run for his money. Also getting in the spirit of things were her costume-clad sister Kelly, as well as Maria Shriver, the wife of her True Lies co-star-turned-governor Arnold Schwarzenneger.

And it wasn't just the adults playing dress-up. Tom Cruise's War Of The Worlds' co-star Dakota Fanning, 12, joined in the Halloween fun by donning a beautiful Snow White costume.

These days mum-of-two Jamie, who is married to British aristocrat and film maker Lord Christopher Hayden-Guest, is focusing on her family-life rather than her screen career. "I'm not an actor any more," she says. "I really don't imagine I'll do that again."
