Residents of the Italian village of Bracciano are bracing themselves for what promises to be the biggest celebrity wedding of the year. Speculation is hotting up that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes will make their vows in the community's picturesque Castle Odescalchi just outside Rome on November 17.

According to local media the Tinseltown couple are planning three days of celebrations, with a warm-up party on Thursday, November 16. A traditional Catholic ceremony will be held the following day, with a Scientology event scheduled for Saturday.

The Mission: Impossible star and his pretty fiancée won't be the first VIPs to visit the medieval castle. The striking building, which dates back 800 years, has played host to numerous kings and popes in the course of its history.

Although Tom and Katie's choice of venue remains unconfirmed, there's no secret about who's designing the bride's dress. Giorgio Armani will be doing the honours. And with many of the movie industry's biggest names expected to attend the lavish bash, not a few of his compatriots will also be called upon to help out. Local newspapers have revealed that 100 black limousines and 300 professional bodyguards have been booked as well.
