She's one of the most recognisable faces on the silver screen but Annette Bening has never lost sight of that which gives her life its meaning. And, as she received her star on Hollywood's legendary Walk Of Fame, the American Beauty actress paid a heartfelt tribute to her family.

Speaking of her husband, 69-year-old fellow thesp Warren Beatty, she explained: "He's the person I'm the most grateful to because he makes moments like this take on the proper perspective."

Mum-of-four Annette, chic in a crisp white suit and black shirt, received the 2,324th star on the legendary Walk of Fame outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Her honour is located not far from where her husband's hand and shoe-prints are also immortalised in cement.

The thrice Oscar-nominated star hinted that audiences will be seeing a lot more of her in the future. "I love my work, I love my craft so much and I feel it's a journey I'm still very much in the midst of," she enthused.

Her current role in Running With Scissors, which co-stars Alec Baldwin and Joseph Fiennes, is already generating buzz of a fourth Academy Award nod. In the flick Annette plays a mentally ill mother who signs over guardianship of her son to her psychiatrist. "I know I'm biased," Warren recently said, "but I think this is the best thing she's ever done. I've seen it three times."
