The cobbled streets of Rome were once again awash with photographers and journalists on Thursday evening when Tom Cruise and his fiancée Katie Holmes, who are in town for their wedding celebrations, hosted a lavish pre-nuptials bash for showbiz pals.
The bride-to-be was chic in fitted white trousers and a flowing satin blouse when she arrived at the fashionable Nino restaurant with her future husband, who carried baby Suri in his arms.
Dining with them were A-list friends Jennifer Lopez, elegant in an off-the-shoulder yellow gown, her husband Marc Anthony, as well as Jim Carrey and his girlfriend Jenny McCarthy.
Also sharing the meal at the upmarket eaterie at the foot of the Spanish Steps were Tom's children, Isabella and Conor. And the youngsters seemed to have been inspired by their father and future stepmother when choosing their outfits. Thirteen-year-old Isabella was looking ladylike in a satin gown in the same peach hue as Katie's blouse, while Conor, 11, was smart in a black suit and striped tie similar to that worn by Tom.
The buzz that enveloped the restaurant will seem like small potatoes compared to the frenzy of activity expected to descend on Odescalchi Castle on Saturday, though. George Clooney, Steven Spielberg, Russell Crowe, Brad Pitt, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Giorgio Armani are all expected to be among the guests witnessing the weekend ceremony.
