Bride And Prejudice beauty Aishwarya Rai and fellow actor Abhishek Bachchan have announced their engagement, ending months of will they won't they speculation. By uniting two of India's most famous film stars the match is one made in Bollywood heaven.
The happy couple took part in a special engagement ceremony at the Bachchan residence in Mumbai on Sunday. Close friends and family were on hand to help them celebrate the occasion, while crowds waited outside for a glimpse of the silver screen stars who have been keen to keep their romance under wraps.
Only days earlier the pair, who were promoting their Bollywood flick Guru in Toronto, had dodged reporters' questions about the status of their relationship. The news comes one and a half months after the pair were spotted offering prayers at a Hindu temple with Abhishek's parents.
Emerald-eyed Aishwarya, 33, who is considered by many to be Bollywood's leading lady, has co-starred in several films with her husband-to-be. The son of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, he was recently voted the sexiest Asian man by a British newspaper. A date for the ceremony has yet to be announced.
