John Travolta has thanked fans for their support over the loss of his teenage son Jett – and vowed to be strong for his wife, actress Kelly Preston and their eight-year-old daughter Ella. "We have to try and pick ourselves up and continue with our lives," the screen star told a friend.
Hollywood insiders including Oprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks and Tom Cruise also offered their condolences to the Travoltas after the death of the 16-year-old.
Jett - who suffered seizures since the age of two and had a form of epilepsy - was taken ill during a family holiday in the Bahamas.
He was found unconscious in the bathroom at the Travoltas' home on Grand Bahama island on Friday morning and was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
"Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered," said the Pulp Fiction star in a statement on his website.
"We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time that we had with him for the rest of our lives."
