Four years after the cameras stopped rolling on Mr & Mrs Smith, the film on which Brad Pitt met Angelina Jolie, the question about when their relationship began is still of intense interest to the public.
This week the leading man broke his silence on the matter denying that an affair took place on set while he was still with ex-wife Jennifer Aniston.
"What people don't understand is that we filmed for a year. We were still filming after Jen and I split up," he told W magazine. "Even then it doesn't mean that there was some kind of dastardly affair. There wasn't."
"I'm very proud of the way that it was handled. It was respectful," added the Benjamin Button star.
Brad spoke out following an interview in which Marley And Me actress Jennifer described comments made by Angelina about how she fell in love with the Hollywood hunk as "uncool".
Emphasising that he's still friendly with his ex, the father of six insists: "Jen's a sweetheart. I think she got dragged into that one. And then there's a second round to all of that, Angie versus Jen. It's so created."
